In Secrecy
My latest piece titled “In Secrecy”, is dedicated to all of the black boys that grew up with a love for dolls. Through my art, I’m actively working to rebuild and expand what is expected of black men. This illustration serves as the origin story for my Jalethal doll project. I learned QUICKLY early on if I wanted to continue playing with dolls, I’d have to do so in secrecy out of fear of the thoughts and words of others. I know I’m not the only one and I hope to enable real conversations from those that may share a similar story + spark a discussion on the trauma queer youth experience early on and the lasting effects.
