  • Jalethal Doll Workshop

My Jalethal Doll making class takes place inside of my studio. This free course happens over12 weeks and will walk participants through creating these 3d objects from fiber materials. I have done two workshops successfully prior to the pandemic: one at the Yonkers Public Library with boys ages 16 -19 and at the Community Folk Art Center with an age range of 13-60. Participants will be introduced to two design programs: Adobe illustrator and the Cricut Design Space in order to complete the dolls. • Collective Display Art Show

Founded in 2014 after noticing there were no opportunities for upcoming black creatives to showcase their work publicly, the show took on a life of its own every summer. Past participants had limited experience with putting on events but with time we grew our audience to over 300 + in attendance and have had showcases at former barbershop 754 N. Salina Street, The Clarence Jordan Vision Center, The Community Folk Art Center, and The Everson Museum.

  • KJ & LoLo

“Not everyone understands House Music. It’s a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing.” House music is black music. The genre was born out of the underground scenes of queer black and brown communities in Chicago and New York; they were cultural hives swarming with exciting ideas and creative minds. Kj & Lolo is an extension of that rich history. Formed in 2018 after being friends for years, one day while harmonizing we realized our sound was on point and decided to form our singing group. Once Covid Hit we had nothing but time on our hands and began working on our debut album titled “Smooth Vibrations Vol. 1”. We have learned so much since 2020 about music and can’t wait to let the world hear our project in full. Keep your eyes and ears out for Smooth Vibrations Vol.1 Coming to you sooner than never!

  • Feel That Funk Project

Black people face scrutiny from all angles daily. Whether it’s on the street, in the workplace, or elsewhere-far too often do we have to dim our light to make others feel comfortable. Nothing is more liberating than being able to let our guard down-even if only for a moment. I wanted to create an environment where all in attendance felt SEEN, loved and appreciated. They were able to leave all of their troubles, whether those were socio-economic struggles, identity issues, relationship woes and everything in between at the door and use dance as a form of liberation to shake off all of their frustrations. The ending result was just that. This is my love letter to black folk. We’re beautiful and truly do it like no other. Thank you to the cast and crew of this epic ass video. We did that!
